UNESCO Heritage Sites
Hampi, the ruined capital of the Vijayanagara Empire, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site just 30 km from Hotel Sree Vijayalakshmi in Toranagallu. An easy 45-minute drive puts you among ancient temples, giant boulders and royal ruins.

Virupaksha Temple
The Virupaksha Temple, also called the Pampavathi Temple, is considered the most sacred among all temples at the Hampi UNESCO World Heritage Site. Facing the temple is a double-storied structure known as the Virupaksha Bazaar or Hampi Bazaar, which runs about 732 metres long.

Vittala Temple
The Vittala Temple at Hampi is famous for its musical pillars and the stone chariot at the centre of the temple. Both are in the main complex and are the features visitors come specifically to see.

Hazara Rama Temple

Kadalekalu Ganesha
The Kadalekalu Ganesha statue on Hemakuta Hill at Hampi stands 15 feet tall and is one of the largest sculptures in the complex. The pillared hall in front of the sanctum is built with unusually slender and tall pillars, and the hall itself is considered as striking as the statue. The name comes from Kannada: kadalekalu means horsegram, describing the rounded shape of the deity's belly.

Krishna Temple
The Krishna Temple at Hampi was built by King Krishna Devaraya in 1513 to celebrate the conquest of the eastern kingdom of Udayagiri or Utkala, in what is now Odisha state. It is one of the temples at Hampi whose origin is tied directly to a specific historical event.

Lakshmi Narasimha Statue
The Lakshmi Narasimha statue, also known as the Ugra Narasimha, is the largest in Hampi at about 6.7 metres high, and the entire statue of Lakshmi and Narasimha was cut from a single boulder. It is considered the last addition made by the Vijayanagara Empire to the Hampi complex.

Daroji Bear Sanctuary
The Daroji Bear Sanctuary has a rock-strewn forest that is the natural habitat of Indian sloth bears. It can be visited on the way to or from Hampi, making it a practical addition to a day trip from Toranagallu.

Tungabhadra Dam
The Tungabhadra Dam is a multipurpose dam that creates the biggest reservoir on the Tungabhadra River. It is commonly visited alongside the Hampi heritage sites and can be reached from Toranagallu in under two hours.
